Welcome to the wonderful world of acting!
Intro to Acting Classes Now Enrolling!
Acting is not simply line memorization. Believable characters on stage or screen have the ability to transport the viewer. They are mesmerizing to watch! And while the actors make it look easy, they have, in fact, put in a lot of work behind the scenes to bring those characters to life.
Drawing on techniques from renowned acting methods (Konstantin Stanislavsky, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagen), Acting 1 will focus on:
-
The basics of acting
-
Script analysis
-
Character development
-
How to improve your acting technique
-
New ‘tricks’ for your actor’s toolbox

YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Carrie Aikman
Carrie’s love of performance began at age 8, when she took her first dance class in Michigan (USA) and it’s still going strong. Some of her favorite onstage appearances include Dancer in The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, Charlotte Wallace in Beyond Therapy, Artie in Eleemosynary, and Bernice in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940.
After relocating to Los Angeles in her 20’s, she focused on studying film technique, commercial acting, and various methods of acting (i.e. Meisner Technique, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen) for film and stage.
It was also in Los Angeles that she fell in love with comedy improv while studying at The Groundlings and The Empty Stage, and had the privilege of bringing laughter to audiences all around LA performing with two different troupes. Today, locally, she can be found entertaining Basel audiences as part of Boutique Theatre’s improv troupe, B.I.G., storytelling at The Beast, and acting and directing in plays with Semi Circle.
Carrie has been a part of the Boutique Theatre Basel teaching team fpr the past 6 years where she has led improv classes, as well as character development workshops.
